Her Story

Khalilah V. Collins the mother of two, a social worker, community organizer and activist and calls herself a Social Justice Practitioner.  She earned her Masters in Social Work from Spalding University in Louisville, KY. In 2020, she heard the cry of the city that she loves and returned home to be an active participant in the Louisville Uprisings to support on the ground efforts along with having long-term solution conversations. That is what brought her to DOVE Delegates. Alongside her current work with DOVE Delegates, Collins’ is the owner and founder of KVC Solutions, LLC a consulting firm that consults with organizations, organizers and other entities on projects related to non-profit/program development, social justice and DEI issues. Her passions are learning/teaching, social justice and the eliminations of any form of oppression. She understands and wholeheartedly believes in the important of grassroots organizing and the need to build leadership and power towards policy change.

Before working with DOVE Delegates, Khalilah lead projects and initiatives around mental health and wellbeing, violence prevention, and reproductive justice, and economic human rights. Education is one of her passions and she is currently working on her Doctorate in Social Work at Spalding University. She has also been adjunct professor at Spalding University, Salisbury University, Jefferson Community & Technical College and the University of Louisville, Kent School of Social Work. She is committed to developing students who will become active citizens that understand the value of community engagement. Her passion for and dedication to education for all, she co-created Louisville Political Education for Liberation (LPEL) in 2020 during the Louisville Uprising to educate, liberate, and build political power in Louisville. LPEL cultivates spaces that center the teachings and practices of organizers, activists, and their communities focused on education and organizing for liberation support on the ground organizers and community

Over the years, she has served on many boards and committees and was named one of 128 Louisville Connectors and one of 65 West Louisville Connectors by Leadership Louisville.
